Team Blizard Race Report

Welcome to another action-packed race report from the Team Blizard community where results up and down the country on a variety of distances and surfaces have one common theme and that is excellence running through it.

Kicking off the week, on Saturday we had the ever popular No Walk in the Park 5k at Chesterfield where coached athletes Mark Trolley and Bev Warwick both ran excellent races with Bev's a preparation for the Brighton 10k this weekend.

Staying with the Saturday theme, it was the next round of the Cross Country League for the North Midlands where Worksop harrier Tom Shaw once again gave a sterling performance.

On a cake theme, over in Lincolnshire, it was the Mallard Cake Dash where Anna Thompson, a regular on our Friday night class, had her last race in 55-59 category before moving up and came an excellent 2nd place.

Working into 10k races now, the ever popular Dalby Dash was used as a GP race for Ackworth AC and three athletes who are in our community all ran well with Maksim Palciks heading the field, followed by Richard Ward close behind and an excellent run by Richard Burke. Also, Andy Hopper from Scarborough made the short journey across to run well in the event.

Closer to home, we saw the Gainsborough 10k and half marathon. In the 10k, first home from the community was Shane Grace who is lining up the Valencia marathon in a couple of weeks. He was chased home by Cleethorpes athlete in fine form Spencer Higgins as well as Mike Skelton, Mark Chapman and Portugal attendee Rob Milner running a personal best.

In the same race, there was also the half marathon and once again that training partner to many of you Matt Wroe produced another personal best. This was backed up by Peter Twigg of Clowne, Reuben Brooks running a massive PB and great runs from both Angela Lally and the Pinkbird Dawn.

Each week we have a “Run of the Week” and this week it goes to Jonathan Barnett who took the V60 half marathon title but also ran a personal best within the race.

Congratulations to everybody who raced and sorry if we missed any of you and a massive thank you to all those who sent their results in as it really helps us pull it all together.
The results just keep rolling in and until next week………… keep training.
